1873 clone

wanting to pick up an 1873 rifle clone in 357...know about uberti quality ...have seen chaparral but haven't found out much other than price difference...any info or suggestions???? thanks

  Go with the Uberti...it is the better quality of the clones. There is even a guy who specializes in hot rodding them for the cowboy action shooting, providing a better trigger, and shorter lever throw. If you want something really smoothe and strong, try to find a newer Winchester licensed 92. They are like silk, but drying up fast.

  Don't go loading those .357s too hot. In spite of the tests done with one set of links removed, etc., the Winchester toggle link action is not a very strong one especially if the links and pins have not been setup properly.
