Appology to those with ruffled feathers

Dear Bert H., He Dog, kimi, Spider7115, ruger 41, old colts, countryfarmer, and rufe-snow,

Whoooooaaa Nelly! I seemed to have touched a nerve here gentelmen. I must appoligize for anything I may have said or done to rub you the wrong way, insult your inteligence, put a burr under your saddle, or what ever the case may be. I appoligize for offering my services to those who would like it and will not do so here in the future. I did not mean to step on anyones toes. While I am new to this website I am far from a newbie in the study of Colt firearms. I have spent half my life enjoying the brotherhood of collecting fine arms and it has always brought me great satisafaction and many great friends. It saddens me it seems you will not be one of them. You will not be bothered by the likes of me again. I hope you enjoyed your brief chance to make fun at my expense and the circus you have created.

    Stick around for awhile, and you will learn the personalities of the regulars on this forum... and then be able to recognize when you are truly being insulted.

    Colt--ya gotta learn a lot of what goes on here is rufflin' feathers for fun--you didn't offend me in the least--stick around and have some fun. We all love guns here---but ya gotta admit when a newbie comes in and posts that he letters guns for you that will add value when that is already being done by the Colt factory which really can add value then ya gotta be prepared for some ribbing[;)]

    Looked to me like you were offering letters, which come at a fee. Offers to sell are not allowed here, I don't see that the offer of paid services is different. Besides, I like snakes better than most Colt collectors.[}:)] You can either be a drama queen and flounce right on out of here, or toughen up a bit and stick around, you may have something to offer, and you may learn something, but it is a good time, so staying is better.

    No ruffled feathers here, and I know it was my post that you are referring to. I just wanted to keep you out of trouble with the moderators(offers to buy or sell on the forums are forbidden), and at the same time let you know there are some serious people on here that will give you a run for the money...

    I do appreciate the the e-mail, and that was very gentleman like.

    Let me know when you are up to catching some more Walleye's!

    So what makes your letter worth more to me than a Colt letter? what do you charge for your letter? Do your letters cover anything that a Colt letter does not? Post a photo of a sample letter for us.

    You seem like a smart guy, you must be able understand why some are sceptic. No need to leave the forum.

    Excuse my shoot from the lip assessment of yesterday! From my years of collecting, folks who represent themselves as experts are a very sensitive subject to me. My philosophy is at the very best, the most you can hope to be in any discipline is a Reasonably Knowledgeable Individual. Misguided fools who represent themselves as [8]EXPERTS[8] in any subject under the sun, are crooked charlatans IMHO.

    Kindly stick around, the more RKI's we have on this forum, the better it is for all of us. Everybody has a different perspective regarding their particular firearms interest. Yours on Colts, would be appreciated by the members, I'm sure.

    No ruffled feathers here! You came here posting about services you provide, at a fee I'm sure; which is advertising and contrary to the tenets of this forum. We were having a little fun with you; so if you can develop a thicker skin and wish to impart your knowledge without commercial interruptions, we would truly welcome your participation! You can never have too much "FREE" knowledge and participation in an area that is setup to help others.

    I'm certainly not an expert and do not profess to be; I just try to help when I can!

    Added: Regarding references to a Colt Letter; they only confirm the configuration that a Colt left the factory in. Authentication services authenticate that a Colt is correct as it currently exists and hasn't been altered. For unique, unusual, or highly desirable (provenance) Colts; which usually translates to high dollars; both a Factory Letter and an Authentication Letter from someone recognized as an expert in the field is highly desirable!

    There were never any hard feelings from us toward you and no need for you to have them toward us. Everyone in here feels they are an "expert" to some degree and have proven so over time, although some are unquestionably more deserving than others to claim that title. Still, it's a nice place to share, teach and learn.

    The skepticism came in when you offered to "letter" Colts without any credentials whatsoever other than an e-mail address. Heck, anyone could print up a letter stating that a particular Colt belonged to Wyatt Earp or "Billy the Kid" but it wouldn't add any more to the value of the Colt than the paper it's printed on without factory or other irrefutable provenance.

    It takes time to gain credibility in this or any forum. If you want to stomp off in a huff, so be it. However, nobody is running you off and we would more than welcome your expertise if you wish to share it with us. Just understand and accept the fact that, as twisted as it may seem as times, we all share one thing in common: A sense of humor.

    You certainly have the right attitude, when you are done licking your wounds tell ua about some of the Colts you have had your mits on. Glad you decided to stay.
