Colt Signature Series BP Revolver

I just bought one of these >

.36 cal. Model 1862 Trapper, Revolver, No Loading Lever, 5-Shot
Semi-Fluted Cylinder, 3?-inch Round Barrel, Silver-Plated
Backstrap and Trigger Guard, N.Y. Address, Sam Colt
Signature Engraved on Backstrap. Comes with Brass Ramrod.
Does anyone have a link or info- on how many were made, or a serial number chart telling me when mine was made?

I can only find info- for second generation BP revolvers.

    You can try calling Henry Repeating Arms in Brooklyn, NY. They used to be Colt Blackpowder Firearms Company and made your revolver.

    I don't know if Dennis has "Signature Series" data as they aren't considered to be "real" Colts. Still, it's worth a shot. You can e-mail him at derussell@earthlink.net

    Some say these are not "real" Colts, some say they are. The serial #'s are a continuation of the orginal first generation Colts. According to all the references I see and the asking and selling prices I am seeing, they are worth more than they were when sold new. I have three that are new in the box, a Walker, 1860 Army, 1858 Navey, and a well used 1860 Army that is my "shooter. In my opinion the fit and finish is excellent and they work better and smoother than any other "repo" black powder revolver that I have ever shot. They will never be or be worth what an original but to me they are an afforadable next best thing.

    Many of the parts for these guns were made by the usual Italian manufactures of replica guns which is what these are. There are a lot of Signature Series guns for sale on the auctions and they don't sell all that well. Quality can be a little iffy. I've seen several cylinders that have major imperfections that look like casting voids.

    OK, that's a "Signature Series" model F1505, 1862 Pocket Police - Trapper Model. It was made from 1996-2002. The original MSRP was $442.50. I don't have any info as to how many were manufactured.
