Winchester model 59-22

I have recently aquired a Winchester model 59-22 which is a single shot bolt action .22 cal , there is no serial number that I can find. I have cleaned it and shot it a few times . I was looking for any info on it . Everyone I have talked to about this only knows of the winchester model 59 as a shotgun. Any help is greatly appreciated .

    Hello Kory,

    You have one of the rarest Winchester Model .22 caliber rifles ever made.

    Winchester introduced the Model 59 in May of the year 1930, but due to poor sales (the Great Depression), it was discontinued on December 23rd, 1930. All told, 9293 were made and sold in 1930 and 1931. If your Model 59 is in decent condition, it is highly collectable, and worth decent $$$$. The original list price in 1930 was $8.45, but it was reduced to $3.50 in 1931 to clear inventory.

    I would really like to see pictures of this rifle, as I have not yet ever laid eyes on one.

    The Model 59 single shot .22 was made in 1930-31. They are not seen very often since only 9 to 10 thousand were produced. It is basically an improved Model 58, having a stock that will resemble the later Winchester .22 models rather than the sawn plank look of its predecessor.

    Bert, they come up on ocassion on GB's auctions...infrequently that is.

    I am new to this chat forum stuff and still trying to figure out how to post pictures . If I can't get it figured out Iwill at least email them to those that email me. the rifle is not in great shape , but it is not the worst I have seen . It definatly has seen better days . I will do my best to figure out how to post pics. Thanks

    Kory-the model 59 had a bolt handle that was 15/16 in. long and had a knob on the end that was 1/2 in. in diameter. The "butterknife" handle on your bolt is a later (replacement) addition as is the receiver sight for which the receiver was not factory d+t. Despite these custom touches, if the little rifle shoots well, have fun with it. -Asa

    Oh yeah it shoots great , but I will not soot it alot , just every now and then. thanks
