    First of all, it's what is known as a "Trade Brand Name" shotgun. That is a gun made by a major maker for and sold by a wholesaler or retailer who chose the name to go on the gun.
    I looked through two reference books and the name isn't listed. That in its self is no surprise, there were so many names. You need to look on the bottom of the barrels under the forearm for proof marks. If there are proof marks there then the gun was made in Europe. If there are none then the gun was made in the United States which is what I suspect. The gun looks very much like a Crescent Fire Arms Company of Norwich,CT (1892 to 1932) or a late model Crescent-Davis Co gun. It has been said that Crescent would make as few as 12 guns with some name on them as long as the buyer paid for the die made up to stamp the name on the gun. Most of us will blame Crescent for making some unknown name gun. The gun looks very much like the illustration of a Crescent Sidelock Model Hammerless made from 1904 to 1932. This gun was made in 12, 16.20 gauge and .410 bore with 26,28,30 and 32 inch steel.twist or damascus barrels. Crescent-Davis Arms also made the same gun.

    I doubt that it is a Crescent, I have never seen that name attributed to them. Here are lists of names they did make:

    I agree though that it looks somewhat like a Crescent made shotgun.

    We could argue all day and all night about which guns Crescent made and none of us would be entirely correct. When I started collecting "Trade Brand Name" single barrels back in 1975
    I also started documenting the names of the makers. At present I am up to almost 430 names made by Crescent. My sources have been The Standard Catalog of Firearms by Ned Schwing, Official Guide To Gunmarks by David Bryon, The Breech Loading Shotgun In America by Joseph T. Vorisek and Shotgun Markings 1865 to 1940 A List by the same author, Gun Digest by DBI Books, The Golden Age of Shotgunning by Bob Hinman, information furnished by the good folks here on the gun sites and my own research. We must remember that some of the names were owned by the sellers and the guns were made by whoever would make them the cheapest so a name could have been made by more that one maker.As I said it has been said that Crescent would make as few as twelve guns with some name on them as long as the buyer paid for the die made up to stamp the name on the gun.Not all of these names were recorded. I find at least one unknown name a month.The best one I have in my collection is a HOO HOO. Now who would choose a name like that to go on a gun?

    Thanks for all the info, the gun is actually in excellent condition and has a later steel barrel not damascus or twist. No way near a Parker but a nice 20 ga shotgun.

    The last "Boston Field Gun" I looked at was made by Torkelson Mfc. Co. of Warren Mass. That one had a single trigger but looked a lot the one in the picture. Torkelson made other double shotguns one named "The New Worcester" and "The New American".
