MOUNTING A SCOPEON A TURKISH MAUSER

I was wondering if anyone out there knows what kind of equipment I need to mount a scope on a turkish mauser in place of the rear sight. I am trying to make it a scout rifle. Any help would be great. Thanks alot

    There are a few companies making scope mounts that fit in the rear sight base to put a forward-mounted long eye relief ("scout") type sight. There is one listed in the above link if you scroll down.

    Supposedly, this one from S&K is among the best, and I've actually been thinking about getting one myself (scroll down for the Turkish Mauser mount):

    The actual mounting is pretty straightforward. You punch out the pin holding the rear sight assembly and remove it and the spring. Then you drop in the sight base, tighten down the screws, mount the scope rings, and install then zero the scope the same as any other rifle.

    Edit: What equipment?

    -You'll need the sight mounting base, the accompanying screws, plus whatever tool is used to tighten them. Its probably an allen wrench, and the right one(s) may even come with the mount.

    -Loctite is a good idea to help keep the scope mounting screws from working loose under repeated recoil. If that happens not only will the gun not keep its zero, but you could lose a screw somewhere (REALLY bad. . .).

    -If the mount doesn't come with scope rings, you'll have to get those.

    -You need a long-eye relief (ie pistol or "scout" type) scope. An ordinary rifle scope won't work. Try to resist the temptation to get a high-magnification scope as especially with the forward mount, you end up having an extremely narrow field of view. Try 2x-3x.

    -You need a punch to drive out the sight pin, and a hammer or mallet to drive the punch. (In a pinch, you might substitute something else, like a cut off nail, etc, but the right tool is always better).

    -Pliers (any kind) might be helpful to pull out the sight spring, but you may not need them.
