XD45 failure?

Never thought it would happen, but it did. My XD45 failed to feed not once but three times. I bought a new magazine and tried different ammo, same problem.

I tried more CLP as much as I hate to over oil, same results. I am going back to the sandbox tommorow and cant deal with this until i get back. I really dont want to send it back to Springfield and I want to think it is some little thing I am doing wrong.

Has anybody had this happen? I bought this pistol for its reputation for durability now I am not sure that I can trust it

    If you tried a new mag and different ammo, the only two things that I can see that possibly would affect feeding would be the extractor or recoil spring. Disassemble the slide and check the extractor to be sure it's clean and functional. Get some replacement recoil springs, with assorted poundage ratings from Wolff.

    Well I can't say for sure what your problem is but sending to springfield will fix your problem without guessing and spending money on things in hope of fixing. And for the most part they will most likely fix it for free. If your state allows ship it ups. This will only cost little and when you get it back just sign for it and go shoot. If you are not sure than call springfield and ask, can't hurt. Good luck...

    Did the gun NEVER work right, or is this a recent problem?

    If its a recent problem, then you've probably got a worn or damaged part.

    Presumeably your gun is clean, and there are no defects/burrs, on the feed ramp.

    Again, I agree with Rufe. Recoil spring or extractor are likely culprits.

    Does the ammo feed and extract OK when you cycle the slide manually?

    If not, you can probably eliminate the recoil spring as a likely culprit.

    This is the first time I have heard there was a problem with the XD. Send it to SA and get it fixed right.

    My XD in 45 also is very particular to it's ammo. It will not feed most of my reloads. I have 5 other 45's that all digest the loads just fine. It doesn't seem to mind factory ammo, Remington, or the Winchester SXZ Hollow points. After much trial and error, I think that I have a reload combination that will work. It includes using a taper crimp die, and only round nose, or "short" hollow points (like speer gold dot). I would be very much interested to find out the problem when you get it resolved!
