Arisaka thread sizes

Can anyone tell me if the threads on Arisakas are metric or did the Japanese have their own thread sizes. Thanks

  Frank DeHaas showed the 6.5 to be 1.020" diameter over the threads and 14 threads per inch; he showed the 7.7 to be 1.050" dia., approximately 17 tpi. He says the actual pitch is 16.93 tpi.
  I don't know if that is really metric or some Oriental system.

  Yes, that's correct they are metric and Arisaka models 38 and 44 are 1.025" x 16 tpi V-type.
  Putting money into a Japanese service rifle is throwing good money after bad.

  16.93TPI is a 1.50mm thread pitch
