winchester 1873 1st model

Hi all. have a 1873 1st model that has 2 dove tails in the rear of the barrel 2 and 15/16" apart ctc. was this something winchester did are some old modification some where along the line? serial # is 7199

  not sure ruger if it did are not there anymore. maybe burt will know are get a letter from cody not really sure.

  It is extremely doubtful that one of the dovetail cuts is factory original. None of the various rear sights that Winchester installed required more than just the one standard dovetail cut.
