EAA Witness Match 10mm problem
I had asked this question before, but did a search and can not find the thread...I have a Witness 10mm pistol, super accurate, very reliable, one problem, it throws the empty brass about 25 yards away in a high trajectory. The empties go about 15 feet in the air and land 20-25 yards away. With the price of brass, is there a way to make the brass not fly so far?

Changing springs, etc. may help, but may also change the basic function of the pistol.
If you know where they are landing, do what we do when shooting the FALs - put a tarp or canvass down where they will land...0 -
If you reload, try lower velocity loads with heavier bullets. I can get my Glock to drop them in a six foot radius with a two hundred grain bullet and 3 1/2 grains of AA 2, it cronos at 775 fps.
If you want to stick to hot loads get, the heaviest recoil spring that Wolff sells for the Witness, it might help some.0 -
Seems you need to tune your extractor spring; it's done all the time on Mini-14s and 1911s 0 -
The problem you describe. . .tossing brass a gazillion miles away. . .is typical of that particular model, the 10mm Witness. They pretty much ALL do that out of the box.
I think the general consensus is that these particular guns come undersprung from the factory, and you can greatly reduce this issue with a stronger slide spring.
I'm sure there are also ways to tune the extractor to change the trajectory and distance of ejection, though that's a little more involved.0
