Antique Remington rifle .30 USA Help!
Need to find info on this rifle, model, value? Ser # 1019xx. about 24" barrel, missing bolt and magazine. patent dates aug1884, sep84, mar85, jan87. Elevator rear sight. stock looks like someone carved it down to make a sporter. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide. Harry

without pictures we are blind-folded [:(]Sort of asking the question "I have a 1975 vega what is its history and what is it worth?". Also just like cars firearms loss much of their value if not all original. If your rifle has just had the stock modified by some jack leg it will be more value then if many of the parts have been modified . the only way for us to tell is by close-up in focus well lighted pictures 0 -

It sounds like it might be a Remington-Lee Model 1885. What's the serial number and caliber.
EDIT: Make that an 1889 Remington-Lee vice the 1885. Flayderman shows it with the 1884, 1885, and 1887 patent dates. They did have the 24 inch round barrel sporting rifle too, however, it's my understanding that a lot of the longer barrel Lee's had their barrels shortened and stocks sporterized.0
