Old Army nipples

I picked up a Ruger Old Army cylinder minus the nipples. Can anyone tell me if the nipples are special threads or a special size? Is it best to contact Ruger for to get replacements? I called Bass Pro and they have some nipples but asked about cap size. The cylinder seems to fit properly in my stainless Old Army and the timing looks good. Thanks

  Go to Dixie Gun Works on line site, ( GOOGLE Dixie Gun Works ) they carry replacement nipples for the various replica revolvers.

  I don't have an Old Army handy to check threads but I know the factory nipples were stainless even on the blued guns, and they required a hex type socket wrench instead of the Colt style.

  robin, uncle mikes makes the nipples you need. number is 2866-0, they come in a six pack and the thread is 12-28. they are also stainless steel. hope this helps,eastbank.
