Shipping Ammo question

Whats the best way to ship ammo? Is it illegal to ship thru USPS? UPS?

    Can ammunition be shipped any other way besides UPS Ground or freight Truck?

    Has to be shipped by Common Carrier, i.e. UPS or FedEx. Must be marked "ORM D Small Arms Ammo", Box can't weigh more then 65 lbs.

    I did it for the first time this week (with the help of fellow forum members). Piece of cake. I was told to draw a rectangle on the end of my box and put "ORM-D" in it all with a black marker pen. UPS lady check for my sign & took my money!

    Thanks for the label. WHat size does it have to be? OR just print it as is?

    I believe the border is to be 1/4" larger than the printed info on all sides.

    You take your chances with both..but I have found, in my area, that FedX is a little more reliable.

    ORM-D is a marking for mail or shipping in the United States that identifies "Other Regulated Materials-Domestic". Packages bearing this mark contain hazardous material in a limited quantity that presents a limited hazard during transportation, due to its form, quantity, and packaging.

    Examples of items classed ORM-D include:

    * Aerosol paint cans
    * Perfumes
    * Lighters
    * Small arms ammunition
    * Beer
    * Drain Openers for clogged sinks and tubs

    Every state is allowed to have it's own restrictions. There are lists and explanations for each state on the Internet. Either search each state or look a generic all-encompassing list.
