S&W Question
What do the following letters / numbers......06XA2, LGGGR, BO, SF, SI, FS, CS and ZS....under "Features" on the label of a S&W revolver box mean?

Can anyone tell me what is meant when someone describes a S&W revolver as having a "recessed" cylinder? BT 0 -
Was it in the box? If it was look on the end and post the product code so we can tell you about it. S&W put out a few models of the "HUNTER" series. 0 -
It is stainless with full lug. From what I have found and from the help I was given so far, I believe it may be a 629 Classic Hunter. Now I just have to find out if it could possibly be one of the "original" ones.[:0] Most likely not, but possible.[:D]

Jon...... Not sure what you mean by one of the "original" ones. If its a stainless .44 mag, its a 629. Within the model 629 there are several "Classic Hunter" versions.
There may also be a -2, -3, -4 etc after the model number denoting engineering changes within the model run.0 -
As mentioned, this is probably a version of the popular Smith 629 .44 magnum revolver.
That's the old "Dirty Harry" .44 magnum revolver, but in stainless steel and with some other minor differences.
There is a fairly common "Classic hunter" version, which might be what's in that store.
There is a Talo-issued special version from 2003 called the "Whitetail Hunter" which had an engraved picture of a buck deer on the side. I think this one only had a 6" bbl, though.
Lastly, I remember seeing a special edition Smith 629 that I think had a deer on the side, but I can't remember the details. It was matched with a similar .500 magnum with a different animal, and a third revolver with a third animal. Maybe someone can help me out here.0
