winchester shot shells
Ihave a winchester yellow shotgun shell? It has never been shot .Do not know the gauge ,but 60 mm is on the brass and on the outside of the shotwad.? is what gauge is this ,what does it go in? and is ammo still avilable,andwho would have this info ?Any prior history is appreciated . Thanks Bill

About 1960, one company started using purple 16 g hulls, and yellow 20s (to prevent ammo mixups) caught on real fast, and today nearly all 20 g shells are yellow. 60mm refers to LENGTH of the shell- about 2.4 inches. Do you have possession of the shell in question, and what is marked on the head of the shell?
FWIW, the 2 1/2 shell is generally European, and can still be had from Euro suppliers. American shell length is usually 2 3/4 inches (or 70 mm) and the 3 inch magnum (about 75mm)
As far as what it fits- a 20 gauge shotgun.0 -
I called my friend who has the shell ,he states 60mm on the rearbrass ,on the front,he can see 4.4a.The overalllenghtis one inch and 3/4 long.1 3/4. The shell is made by Winchester.Hope this will help ,Thanke Bill. 0 -
Paper or plastic? Yellow, as stated above) normaly stands for 20ga, but it hasn't always been so. I don't even own a "yellow" 20ga shell. 
60mm (2 3/8") refers to the fired length of the shell
What is the diameter of the rim (as close as you can)
What is the diameter of the mouth (as close as you can)

Just had a brain fart, I wonder if it's a "launcher" for a 60mm Morter round? 0
