Stainless Walther PP German made??
I have a friend that has a German made Walther PP that appears to be stainless. I didn't think any stainless guns were made in Germany. Is this possible, or is it some kind of brushed nickel? A magnet will stick to it, but it also sticks to a North American Arms .22 LR revolver. I thought they only came in stainless. I'm confused. What do you guys think? hacksaw45@aol.com

I don't think they made any real German Walthers, it is likely plated.
BUT a magnet tells you nothing. The 416 or similar stainless alloy used in guns is magnetic, unlike the stuff used in piping or cheap cutlery.0 -
Walther certainly nickle coated pistols, at least during the war years. Eisenhower had two half tracks loaded with pearl handled, nickle plated pistols, (PPKs I believe) which were "liberated" directly from the Walther factory. He gave them out as door prizes to big donors when he ran for Prez. 0 -

The only stainless PP I've seen was marked as a French made Manhurin. That doesn't mean Walther didn't mark a few also. Seems rare and certainly collectable if it has no Interarms markings.
