match h-bar
i already have,could i buy a complete light weight flat top ar(rr,dpms,etc), swap the uppers, scope the h-bar and have the other with the carry handle? sorry, i just dont know the barrel to upper connection like i should. what uppers would work?

AR barrels are part of the upper assembly and can be bought without any "regulations" as they are parts only.
The lower receiver is the "gun" with serial number. Pretty much all the AR makers use small pins and they are interchangeable with the various uppers.
When you decide on an upper, just ask the seller if it is compatable with your lower.0 -
If its a Colt Match H-bar, then the answer is maybe. Measure the pin take down pin hole size on your current upper. If they are .246" then you can get whatever upper you like, if they are .316" then you will need to find someone with a large pin upper/assembly. 0 -
yes its colt,but the goal is a scoped match barrelled ar(suppressed, but thats down the road). tring to seperate the non removable carry handle upper from the barrel and use the upper on a different gun. looking for a swap and end up with two ars.maybe i cant explain it good. 0 -
I have three uppers for my large pin lower. The light weight upper came with a adaptor pin to ft it to the lower. I know Bushmaster has the adaptor pins. So you can use any upper on your lower. 0 -
You need to do a little research before you go any further.
I suggest you do a search on this forum for "AR", & read past discussions. Check out the Fulton Armory website; they have a lot of good information about AR's. Also, buy a copy of The Complete AR-15 Owner's Guide by Walt Kuleck.
The carry handle configuration is a characteristic of the upper receiver; it has nothing to do with the barrel. Changing the barrel is a job for a gunsmith; anyone can swap complete uppers.
