FFL in WV
I am starting to look into getting a FFL dealer license in WV. I am a NRA Certified Instructor and would be able to sell guns to students and others as I am always giving advise about guns and where to get them at a good price. I would sell them out of my house and receive transfers.
I am unsure about what type of business it should be -- LLC., Sole Proprietorship, ect. any advise?
Is it easy to get all the business permits in WV?

There is not such thing as a one size fits all business because what works for one person might be totally wrong for another. A sole proprietorship is by far the easiest but has a number of perils, mainly your personal assets can be attacked in the event of problems with your business. LLCs offer some protection and full corporations offer the maximum, but either should be set up for you by an attorney who specializes in these matters because if you do it yourself and make even a slight mistake setting things up you could be in for big trouble and discover that your personal assets are not protected. Check your local zoning laws to see if you can run a gun business out of your home. The BATFE will require that all state, federal and local laws be complied with before they issue you your FFL and a BATFE compliance inspector will meet with you and go over these in detail before the license is approved for issue. If you cannot demonstrate that you are in compliance with all the regulations (this will include a local business license if needed in your location) then you are finished before you even get started. 0 -
your 1st stop should be your local zoning office to see if you can operate a small business from your location (you may need a variance) the atf will check. next look into forming a llc (limits your personel liability). 0 -
