Looking for expertise on T/C Omega

I decided to step up to the 21st century and bought an in-line T/C muzzleloader for my shiras moose hunt this year in Colorado. I cut my teeth on the T/C "Hawkins" 25 years ago and have taken many elk here in Colorado with it.. I'm looking for suggestions on powder and bullets to knock down a critter of this size with my new T/C Omega.......Oh yea, we can't use sabots here in Colorado, so I'm out of luck on those[:(]

    I would would try posting this topic oveer to the muzzle loading section of the forums also.

    I would use the pelletized form of powder, and go with either the Hodgdon 777 powder, or the IMR White Hots.

    Since you are not allowed to use sabbots, are you allowed to use a conical? I would use a PowerBelt bullet. Most likely a 300 or 338 grain Platinum with 100-150 grains of pellets...which ever shoots best.

    EDIT:
    The Power Belt bullets are NOT sabots. All they are is a plastic gas checked bullet. The bullets themselves are a full bore diameter bullet.

    Try 80 grains of Blackhorn 209. Then, try 90 grains, see which is more accurate.
    Those Platinum Powerbelts will do well on a moose.

    agree with both answers so far , in my omega 1 use 100 gr. 777 with a Platinum Powerbelt , usually will get 2 out of 3 shots touching at 100 yards , last white tail buck i shot with it was about 90 yards out , hit him good right behind the shoulder , he went maybe 40 yards and was down, good blood trail even thru it wasn't needed
