What caliber is this, .308 or 30.06?

Hi,

My best guess is this is 30-06 ammunition.

I believe 308 would be identified as 7.62mm ball also I don't believe Twin Cities Ordnance Plant ever manufactured 7.62mm.

Lake City Ordnance Plant would be another story.

Most likely .30-06 as noted, however TW did mfg 7.62 Nato during the Vietnam war as well as .223.

In the spirit of offering the most help possible, .30 caliber Ball is simply .30 caliber. Both the .308 and the .30-06 are .30 caliber. But they are different CARTRIDGES. Here is a size comparison with several .30 caliber cartridges:

Actually... they did...

If its referred to as ".30 caliber ball" it would be 30-06. 308 is referred to as "7.62mm Nato"
