Winchester Model 12 pump release

I'm selling this for a friend on the auction side. Anyway when you pull the trigger in a dry fire it cannot be pumped. The release buttom must be pushed to open the action. Is this normal? Perhaps it it recoil dependedent. It doesn't open like my Remington 870 does upon the trigger being pulled. Thanks

  This should be normal, when the shotgun get recoil from the shell going off it unlocks the bolt and you can eject via the pump handle, when you drop the hammer on a defective shell this locks up opening the shotgun, a little reminder of the danger of opening the chamber too soon on a hot shell.

  In order to release the slide lock after pulling the trigger, you need to push forward on the slide handle first. When actually firing the gun, the recoil does this for you.
