DPMS "Panther"

My cousin and I were going to assemble an AR 15 type carbine, probably on a Rock River lower. After I posted here, and he read the circumstances we might encounter, he decided to go with a complete gun (to my relief!). Anybody have experience with the one he bought today?

Edit: quickmajik; 16" light barrel & rail top--no sights (yet).

  DPMS is makes a solid rifle. Should be a good shooter.

  DPMS makes all around good economical rifles.. He made a good choice.
  
  It'll be accurate and handy, My ideal all around AR-15 could easily find its foundations on just such a rifle. Good pick indeed.[^]
  
  
  
  Does it have a "pincle" or A1 contour barrel. It would be thin and light weight. the diameter is usally about .625" or alittle or half an inch.
  
  Or an M-4 contour barrel. An M-4 contour barrel has a step in the barrel ahead of the front sight.
  
  or a heavy contour CAR barrel. the barrel diameter is about thre quarters of an inch, .725"-.750".
  
  Does it have a flat top or A2 upper?
