John Wayne Coach Gun

A neibor brought in a new in the case Baikal made John Wayne commemorative double barreled 12 ga coach gun. I've looked in all of my sources and can't find any referance to the gun, let alone a value. It has a letter of of origin, with the corresponding numbers, it's number is 15xx, meaning there where likely 2,000 of them built. It was sold by European American Armory, they paid $1,500.00 for it on a time payment plan four years ago, now they want to sell it. Can anyone help me with a value? It is a nice looking gun for what it is, nice wood and gold inlaid. Any help is truely appreciated.

    I know there have been forums about this gun before but I couldn't find any recent details. Does anyone know how much the John Wayne Coach Gun is worth (the edition number is in the 1700s)? I am helping my dad and I have not been very successful in finding any information for him. The only sites I have found state that the gun has sold for around $1800.00. Please help me! I don't want my dad to get taken advantage of by someone who wants to trade it to him. [:)]

    I looked on the America Remembers site and the item is closed and there isn't a price listed.

    Most America Remembers guns sell for 2,195. Hard to get
    this price unless someone really wants it.

    Imported "commemoratives" are historically a horrible investment and usually bring about half or less of their original issue price in the resale market. Here's a description of the John Wayne shotgun which had an issue price of $1,800:

    Cased Engraved John Wayne Coach Gun by America Remembers

    Commemorative side by side exposed hammer coach gun manufactured on June 6, 2003 according to the accompanying paperwork. Featuring a single gold bead sight on solid rib, 2-3/4 chambers, double triggers, and choked improved cylinder. Receiver is scroll engraved. Rib is marked "UNITED STATES SOCIETY of ARMS and ARMOUR". The left barrel is marked " I Won't Be Wronged, I Won't Be Insulted" and with the "John Wayne" signature all in gold. The right barrel depicts a stagecoach and is marked " JOHN WAYNE COACH GUN", again in a gold wash. Checkered pistol grip stock with laser etched likeness of John Wayne, and a beavertail forearm.

    Bottom of rib marked " EAA CORP- COCOA, FL- BAIKAL,RUSSIA-IZH-43K". Complete with black plastic hard case with America Remembers sleeve and package of silicone gun cloths. Also includes the Certificate of Authenticity marked #2500 of 2500 with other related paperwork and a copy of the January 2005 issue of "American Rifleman" page marked to the Coach Gun order form.

    The information you found was accurate; this guns HAS been selling in the $1,800 range.

    But, why would you Dad want to BUY this turkey? It's value is heading down, not up.
