Any colt collectors out there, got a question that the books seem to have me confused, regarding US Army 1901, Colt DA 38.
four digit matching serial number 29XX.
looking for prices and year of production.

  According to "Flayderman's Guide", the whole series of Colt New Army and Navy Revolvers, were serial numbered consecutively. Starting with the Model 1892. If you have one with only a 4 digit serial number it couldn't be a Model 1901.
  
  They also had assembly numbers on the frame/cylinder area. But the main serial number should be on the butt, (bottom of the grip).
  
  Check out the butt area of the grip really closely, if it only has 4 digit's. Evil folks have been known to have to removed the original serial numbers, and put their own on.
