Model 70 "Deluxe"
From about 1966 to about 1971 Winchester Made a DELUXE version of their Model 70 that was a beautiful gun! The wood was very high quality, the checkering was excellent and on the forearm they were checkered all around...not just in segments. The magazine followers were jeweled and the forearm tips were real ebony wood not plastic. These guns were priced substantially higher than the standard models...I have only seen a few and wondered what they may be worth in excellent condition...Many thanks!

The Deluxe was first offered in 1965 to off set the poor reception to the changes of 1964. Unfortunaltely they are POST 64 guns and do not command near the $$ the pre 64's bring. Having said that the post 64 mannlichers will bring $1000- $1800 being only built for about a year. the checkering was top notch hand checkered in the deluxe model. Unfortunatly M70 enthusiasts were so pissed by the changes winchester implemented to post 64 guns they thumbed there nose at them. Todays prices still reflect that. 0
