Altho the S&W 39's are well built & dependable, they are neither
hi-capacity or compact & thusly there are other 9MM's on the market that have a larger following.
My personal opinion is they tend to be one of the best "value for the buck" personal defence guns on the used market.

They built a suppressed and modified 39 for Spec Ops people during the Vietnam war. I can't remember what is was called - had a cool name - but if I recall, Mitch Werbell was the mover behind it.
Maybe Hush Puppy ?? Or maybe that was the name of the suppressor ??
I always wanted one.

Don't go by the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson".
One blue 39-2 and one nickle 39-2 just sold at a local shop near me.
Blue sold for 435.00 Nickle sold for 425.00.[^]0
