scope glass cleaning

I've let my scope get dusty because I didn't cover it and it sits vertical on the gun.. How can I clean it without compromising its optical coatings?

    A lens brush. Then, lens paper moistened with lens cleaner. Check with any camera store.

    I blow the dust off using one of those cans of air used to clean keyboards, then I wet a clean patch of old cotton T-shirt material with eye glass lens cleaner and gently wipe the lens. I dry by rubbing lightly again with a clean patch. It's a good idea to use lens caps when storing guns or a cover can be made from a small paper cup to keep the objective lens clean.

    The cosmetic dept at Targetwalmartriteaidwallgreens has camel hair cosmetic brush in a metal tube.

    Nmyers has the only correct answer above. All cloth will contain grit which can scratch the lens coatings, don't use your shirt tail, bandana or an old soft cloth.

    I use Q-tips and vapor from breathing on the lens, and go in tiny circles one way then the other, after blowing off any loose stuff.. Shirts and stuff like that are good for wiping other stuff, but not lenses ever......

    Years back, when lens coatings were more fragile, Army optics repairmen
    were directed to use camel hair brushes and ethyl alcohol on lenses and coated prisms.

    ALWAYS use OPTICAL QUALITY cleaning supplies......the best you can afford!
