Super X in 1892 Winchester

In a 1913 vintage Winchester 92 in 38-40 cal would it be OK to use Winchester Super X or would cowboy be better for the rifle?

    We have no way of knowing where it's been, and how it has been used or abused over the last 96 years. It would be best for you to take it to a gunsmith for inspection and test firing. If this isn't possible, test fire it remotely, by placing the butt in a old tire and pulling the trigger with a string for at least 20 rounds.

    I don't know where you'd get high speed loads today for the 92 Winchester other than by handloading.
    High speed loads in 32-20, 38-40 and 44-40 were made specifically for the 92 Winchester.
    If the rifle is in at least NRA fair condition it should be safe for high velocity loads.
