rem. 141/2 in 44-40 carbine,need info. thanks

i just picked up a rem. 141/2 saddle ring carbine in 44-40 with two safeties,one at rear of trigger guard and the other a little sliding tab on the breech block,when pushed down the word safe can be seen and has a thumb cut out in the reciever so you can slide the safety down easier. it has a rear sight with a wheel on it to raise elevation. in very good con. serial number c 439xx. any info would be helpful. thanks eastbank.

    The rem 141 was only avaible in 30,32,and 35 Rem somebody must have customized it or it is something else

    Remington 14 1/2 was made 1912-1922 in 38-40 and 44-40
    Good about $500 exc about $1100.
    Nice gun. It's one of Pederson's designs.

    You've got yourself a real keeper there , they are very hard to come by,especially in decent shape . Go ahead and shoot it they are a lot of fun to shoot .

    A 14 1/2 with "thumbnail" safety on the breechblock is much less common than one with only a crossbolt in the trigger guard. Nice catch.

    Never saw a Mod 14 with both safetys,maybe it's a gun built from parts ? BTW, I've only ever seen one Mod 14 with the thunb nail safety,at a gun show,beautiful rifle on the outside, the bore was pitted badyly. Dealer was asking $650,I offered him $300, he wouldnt budge. He still brings that 14 to the gun shows.

    blackhawk45, the rifle i have is a 14 1/2 saddle ring carbine in 44-40 with a thumb nail safety and a safety behind the trigger guard(the one behind the trigger guard was added as the factory only put a plug there and it was added by a gunsmith). built in 1919-1920, the info comes from a man on the remington collectors forum. eastbank.
