How to obtain an FFL in Michigan

With so many fraudulent sites on the web, and my lack of finding anything on mi.gov, does anyone know how hard it is to get an FFL in the state of Michigan? Do I need to be a shop or business owner? I suppose I could ask my local shop owners, but any help would be good. Thanks.

    You won't find it in the state govt websites, since it is FEDERAL. go to the BATFE website. You must intend to "engage in the business", not merely add to your collection to get an 01 Dealer FFL. You will also need business license, have a location zoned for business, etc.

    I think your question is really, "How hard is it to get into the business of dealing in firearms in Michigan?". You DO understand that you don't just "get an FFL" in order to buy guns wholesale, don't you?

    The answer depends not only on your state, but which city & county you plan to do business in, as most localities have specific licensing & zoning requirements.

    You could always get a Curio & Relic FFL license that will allow you to buy guns for personal collection-the guns you can buy under that license are items that are older and must fall under C&R guidelines, you can look on the auction side and see all the different types of C&R guns-there are quite a lot of them including handguns.     Thanks for all the info guys. I wouldn't mind setting up at some local shows is why I asked...some venues require the dealer setting up to have an FFL, and some don't. I'm not big enough to go through all that just yet...maybe when I retire, but not yet. Thanks to all. I'll just be thankful for the local dealers and continue supporting them.

    Noble thought, that (item in blue). Remember, you must be established as an FFL with a "hard-point" address somewhere. The gunshow angle by itself won't qualify to receive the license. Best, Joe

    Thanks Joe. I'm only 38 now so, I have a long way to go until I retire. I guess it'll be food for thought until then. If things don't go sideways with this horrible excuse of a president in the meantime that is!!
