H322 Loads needed for 223 rem

Would like to try H322 in the 223 Rem using the 53 gr Barnes bullet and Hornady 75gr A-max. Does anyone have any good loads with this powder? For use in a bolt action rifle.

    From what I can find on different sites it appears that 22grs would work with either bullet, however no one has reported on the groupings of this load or any other foundings.

    Go to www.hodgdon.com Look for 223 and bullet and powder in, and all the info you want is there.

    In checking my records, I found that I have not used H322 in my .223's (I'll have to address that oversight!). I have used it in my .222 Remingtons and a .222 Remington Magnum. I got good velocity but not the best groups. I believe you'll need a quick rifling twist for that 75 A-max--that's got to be an awful long bullet.

    I have searched the Hodgons site and this is one of the places I found the 22gr load using H322. I am still wondering about grouping with this powder in the 223rem from a bolt action rifle.

    The truth of reloading is every gun/component combo is different. Just because a certin recipe works GREAT in my gun is no indication it will not be mediocre or even dangerous in yours. There is no magic answer the guys are keeeping secret, the best way to find the best load for your gun is for you to start at the bottom of the charts & work it up for you in your gun to do what it is you expect.

    If this all seems to be too much trouble, send me the gun & components so I can work the load up for you. What a guy, HUH! I wouldn't offer to do that for just anyone!

    Working up a load would be fun I am sure! HEE! HEE! I have been loading my own for over 40 years and I am still learning. I have found it helpful in the past to ask if anyone has worked up a load when I start a new bullet and powder combo. If the powder charge falls in the limits of loading data tested and the groups seem good it gives me a place to start. Like you said every gun is a law unto its self. There are some combinations of powder and bullets that just do not work well. If this is the case I know my chances may not be much different, this being the case a different powder or bullet may make a better choice. If lucky someone has already done some R&D and this is a big help. Thanks again for the help.
