Hi I am trying to identify if the model 70 pre 64 in 338 super grade is "REAL". I have done the following. Contacted the Cody/Buffalo Bill museum and was told that no model 70 records exist. I have the book " The Riflemans Rifle" by Rule and I can not find any evidence that a model 70 pre 64 super grade was ever made in 338 win, 1960 mfg. I have the pictures posted on this site. My next step is to find someone with an in depth knowledge and pick their brain. I want to find out if someone just switched the floor plate or is this the real deal. 0 -

The 70 pre 64 super grade can and are easily forged. You need a super grade stock with floor plate, and a standard grade rifle. simply switch the 2 out. Some of the super grades had an S or the word super on the under side of the barrel.
