Winchester 92 in .357

I own a converted 92 that shoots great and cost me $300. The sad part - it was originally a 92 musket and would have been worth about $4000 if unconverted!

  By "converted", I will assume that the original .44 caliber barrel was removed and a replacement barrel was installed?

  I have a Winchester model 1892 that I had converted to .357 in the early i960's. The rifle had been .32-20 cal and was bored out.
  
  At that time mediocre 1892 models was were available for under $50 and not considered collectable. Wish now I had taken the $110 I have in the rifle and bought stock in Walmart or Microsoft in the early days. Had I done that I could have sold the stock and bought several "closet queen" 1892's. Hindsight is always 20-20.

  The barrel was replaced and the musket forearm cut down to carbine length.When? I have no idea. Several dealers at a gun show in El Paso turned down the seller before I bought it. The only good part_ I couldn't have afforded the 92 if it were original.
