cowboy shotgun shopping

Howdy Pards;my '97 norinco keeps misfiring....II need a good reliable sxs shotgun for cowboy action shooting.....What brand would be good to get with out having to stick 3 month gunsmithing in to and still have problems.....under 500.00 bucks just for sass shoots....Thanks .

    Stevens 311 12 guage, under $300 and if you don't like it you can always get most of your $$ back on something else.

    I have been involved in CAS for about 8 years. I have a Stoeger Coach Gun, a Winchester "94 Ranger, and two Cimmarron sixguns. I love the Cimmarrons and can be found under 500 (used) if you look hard enough. New ones are not much more than that. Have fun.

    The Stevens 311 if like mine is a POOR choice . When I opened mine I had to hold the barrels down with one hand to keep the action totally open. If you go with a SXS you need one that the barrels hang FULLY OPEN.

    I have a Stoeger coach gun paid $300 new for it.Great gun!Stay away from the Remington's

    When I started shooting cowboy, I used a Rossi Coachgun 12ga. The problem with that gun is you have to cock the hammers every time you load, thus slowing you down.

    I bought an IGA 12ga with internal hammers, had the chambers polished and the safety reworked so it only comes on when I select it, not every time its opened. Works great.

    The Rossi is now an awesome dove killing machine.

    A well worn 311 or Fox "B" is a fine choice. A barely used one will require some work to get it to drop open well. These are much more solid guns than any of the low dollar imports(Brazilian, Russian, Spanish). A big plus is that parts will likely be available down the road.

    I've had my Norinco for several years and never had a problem. My only problem was having to cock the hammers slows me down. Especially with the heavy springs they must have in there.

    I bought a NIB Stoeger about a month ago from a local shop for $250, internal hammers.

    It is currently vacationing in the pawn shop.

    I like everything about it, and am thinking about chopping it to the legal minimums.

    I don't shoot Cowboy Action, just wanted one for a truck scattergun.

    Here's one on the SASS classifieds.I'm prety sure the Remingong's are imported,and I don't have any experiecnce with them,just passing along a source for used scatterguns.
