Does walmart still get shipments of ammo cause everytime i go in there its bare

    They do, and it sells about as fast as it comes in. They are all bare. Obama has been the best thing for ammo sales since the invention of the .22

    You guys are getting hosed on ammo. "Be prepared " as of 3 years ago. Still, when I checked my IL Wal-Mart today they had 7 boxes of .223 Rem for $9.99 which is the first they've had in 3 months. I bought lots of it just a year ago for less than $4.30 per box so I didn't get too excited.

    It depends upon the store. I asked at one store & they said they put the ammo on the shelf at 11:00 pm every night, & it is usually gone by midnight.

    I was at a Wal-mart in Tidewater VA tonight. They had maybe 12 boxes of 38 special 100 pack target loads, 10-12 50 round boxes of Winchester 40 S$W, maybe 20 550 round boxes of Rem. 22, and 10 boxes of Winchester bulk pack 22. That was all of the handgun ammo except for various CCI .22's in 100 round boces.

    FWIW, except for a few boxes of more obscure rifle calibers, the two Walmarts near me are essentially out of all pistol and rifle ammo, and have been every time I've checked for the last 2-3 months.

    But there are still lots of shotgun shells to be had.

    The Walmart 30 miles down the road in the "sticks" is also out of common calibers, but there is some residual premium (ie expensive) CCI .22 available (eg Stingers, Mini-mags, CB-caps). . .probably because the economy is so depressed nobody can afford it. Again, there appears to be no shortage of ordinary shotgun shells there.

    I haven't been in there in a few weeks, but the nearby Dicks seems to be a bit better stocked, with a few common pistol and rifle calibers in stock (eg they actually had .223 and .45ACP, though neither was particularly cheap). Maybe I was just lucky that day.

    If you HAVE to have some, ammo in just about EVERY caliber is available online or right here on the auction site, but with supply really low and demand high, prices right now are astronomical.

    At my local Walmart I have been lucky enough to stop in just after they received some 9mm parabellum on three different occasions. First coupld of visits they had the Winchester 100 round value packs with a limit of two. Last time they only had 50 round boxes but with the same limit. Clerk said that since February things have been vary tight with pistol ammuntion.

    I have a new Ruger mini 14 on its way to me and on Sunday I stopped by expecting bare shelves but want to know what their price would be for .223 Remington when they did have it. I looked over to the place where the 9mm is kept and noticed nothing there as usual. The clerk told me the price for the .223 and then said "Do you want some?" I replied that I would take the 2 box limit (Federal 100 round value pack at $39.97). The clerk said there was no limit on rifle ammunition. I expected a caliber like .223 would also be sold out.

    Hopefully things will calm down soon.

    Here in TX it depends on the store. Some stores don't seem to care much nor stock much but other stores seems to get shipments almost every day. The popular stuff goes pretty quick but for example recently I got both 45 ACP and 9MM without any problems. There were plenty of boxes on the shelves but they go pretty quick. You never know what will be on the shelves. 380 ACP is not availabe however. At another store, the girls get a list around noon of what they'll get that night in shipment and so the phone starts ringing at that store not too long after they get the lists. People start hanging around the sporting goods counter around 7-8 PM when they stock the shelves if the store has stuff coming in that people want. .22, 17 HMR, all shotgun shells and most rifle calibers are readily available. It's pistol calibers that are in major demand. There is a four item limit at most stores. Academy, which is our major sporting goods store around, never has much for sale. WM has more in my experience. 223 and 7.62x39 can be had fairly easily. The only stuff that's at WM is target grade, no hollow points etc.
