    Hi to all!!!
    Update with photos from previous post.
    Winchester model 70 pre 64 338 supergrade? serial number dates to 1960.
    I can not find any references to a super grade being made in 338.
    please take a look at the pictures on the local website.
    Has someone changed the floor plate? does it look custom?

    Thanks nononsense for the help with the pictures.
    Is this a super grade? I can not find any records of a 338 super grade. Could someone have changed the floor plate? custom? 1960 mfg. if you need better pictures let me know.

    Like I said, these are sometimes forged or mismatched (the guy could have broke his origianl stock and found a super grade stock to fit it), the first glaring thing that I question is this: Didnt winchester put factory recoil pads on all magnum calibers? Yes, all magnum calibers except the .264. Your gun is a steel inletted butt.

    Also now that I see the stock on this .338, it is wrong and has been removed from a pre 1958 gun, because they did not use a low comb cheek piece after 1957. You dont have a photo of the cheek piece but if it is the rounded Mannlicher style than its a pre 54 stock.

    Finally, Winchester discontinued the super grade in 1959, and you said your serial no. dates it to 1960.

    I know this is not what you want to hear, but you can verify this with your roger rule book. The metal is most likely from a Winchester alaskan, and the wood from a pre 58 super grade. Its still a hell of a gun, just not what it appears to be.[V] Sorry.

    You want others to read Rules book for you? Would you like all the page numbers for verification? You have already stated that you have this very expesive book, take time to read it.....

    I agree with Tod, that looks like a pre 57 stock, and IF it where a super grade it should either have an S on the barrel, or have Super Grade stamped on it somewhere. All Winchester magnums, except the 264 came with factory recoil pads. I've seen a couple of similar efforts over the last few years. Read the book, inform yourself if you want to play in this arena, the market far overreaches the supply.
