winchester 1894? .30 wcf

Any info on an antique Winchester, I believe it to be a model 1894, but do not see the model # on the tang as there is a peep sight mounted there. The bbl is marked .30 WCF and the s/n is 10,XXX. The unique feature on the rifle is that it has a double set "hair" trigger installed. Any info such as date of manufacture, info on the double hair triggers, or any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    if the serial number is what you say,i,ll bet it a first year gun and with the set triggers it would be a nice rifle, bert will be along soon and give correct info. eastbank.

    The serial number tells me that it is a late 1895 (second year) production gun. The set trigger is a very nice special order feature, and it adds to the collector appeal (value).

    What you did not mention is the barrel length and contour. Is it a solid frame or a Take Down? If you can post a few pictures of it, I can give you a much better idea of exactly what you have.

    Thanks Guys,
    I will get more info and try to post some pics in a day or two, the rifle is a solid frame and has a full length round bbl and the magazine is the same length as the bbl. I will measure the length and post with the pics.

    Did I read your 1894 stickynotes correctly in that my rifle is possibly one of only 5 rifles made with the double set triggers?

    Oh my, she is a beaut! It was worth the wait on the pictures! You should get that gun lettered!

    Maybe a dumb question but how do you set the trigger? It doesnt look like there is enough room to get behind the trigger to push it forward.

    No, you did not interpret it correctly. Winchester made thousands of Model 1894s with the style of set trigger you have.

    The barrel is the standard 26-inch length, and the tang sight is a Lyman No. 1 (which should be marked "DA" on the underside of the sight base).

    The overall condition of the finish is typical of a 110+ year old Winchester Model 1894. The fact that it is an authentic "Antique", unaltered (refinished), and that it is a standard Sporting Rifle with a special order set trigger, and Lyman tang sight, all adds up to a real nice collectable Winchester[^].

    You push the rear trigger forward (set position) before you fully close the lever.
