Tikka T3 scope mounting
I just purchase a T3 on GunBroker and it was a used gun. The ad said the gun did not come with mounts or rings. I noticed that it is not drilled and tapped in the usual manner but has grooves much like a .22 rimfire. I was supposing that rings of some variety mount directly to these grooves. Am I correct in this, or am I missing something? Also does anyone know if standard Weaver type rings will mount on these grooves or what will?

My recolection is that tika takes there own bases, as they are tapered, (wider at the front), than they are at the rear. Therefore, I don't think weavers will work. Worse yet, those tika bases can be hard to find some times. you might check the width on the gun with calipers, and see if it is tapered. Good luck!!! HAWKSHAW0 -
You need factory Tikka rings, Warne rings for Tikka or a Tikka base (leupold, etc) if you want to use Weaver style rings. There is a hole milled in the receiver. The Tikka style front ring has a post that fits in to stop recoil related movement. Ebay usually has some takeoffs and MidwayUSA has just about everything. 0 -
