Savage 1895 Cartridge Carrier
I was stupid enough to remove the brass carrier on a friend of mine's 1895 Savage in .303. I disassembled the rifle to clean it because it was so filthy it would not cycle(gummed up). I figure the carrier needs to be timed because it's spring loaded. Can anyone tell me how to do this, or will I have to buy a gunsmithing manual for it. The carrier spindle support is almost worn through,the barrel is shot out, and it is generally in poor shape(if it was in good shape I would never have messed with it because I know they are valuable). Neverless I would like to reassemble it properly. Thanks[:I]
