I have some questions regarding this lil boomstick. I was hoping to find someone with real life shooting experience with it. I plan on getting 2 or getting accessories for one to do double duty.


Dual Configurations:


#1. Bear Defense/Home Defense use. Standard Synthetic stock, 18.5" barrel,5 round shell chamber. I like a short, waterproof soft case for storage. To unsure a snag free draw I chose the low profile bead sight over any ghostrings or other opticle sights. IMHO its a point and shoot utility gun in this configuration. In high stress draws, factors such as fear of death/darkness/"fumble" effect can impare the best auto response. I dint like the bulky ghost rign sights for these reasons. anything, a sling or even a safety can be a distraction and cost time.

#2. SLUG GUN. not sure If I want to get a second gun, or just accessories to mod the use to be intended for slug/sabot rounds. I can get a 20" heavy walled rifled slug barrel and the 8 shot extended magazine tube, or I can get a second gun I may have to deck out a bit. One stripped down model, one cadillac.

Bead sight barrel gives me same snag free storage, the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope/scope mount. not sure of frame mount/pictinny mount yet, scope will determine that. I will go with just a scope if dont get a second rifle. I just need a good 125-150 yard scope.

If I deck her out with rifled barrel and a scope, I might as well get a tacticle shell storage unit for side/top of gun, or work a combo with stock ( the speedfeed stock and or a stock sleeve for shell storage ). Was going to round it out with a bipod and a stock shock supression device... after all I want to shoot sabot rounds, magnum rounds, hell any round even some smooth ball...

Any ideas, questions, comments. experiences?

    I got my 590 when they first came out. Put tritium front sight and ghost ring on the back. I shoot it in three gun matches.
    They are very good, tough shotguns.

    Can I ask of you to recommend some slugs for a non rifled barrel, Im not a rich man and need to use the local "big" stores to find any ammo at all right now... was there/is there something you feed her that she didnt like, clog her throat and choke her? any brand of shells that she does love. I plan on breaking her in with a mix of dove loads, magnums, rifled slugs & maybe smooth ball... unless theres a non-sabot exotic you can swear by.... Im gonna need a few rounds for the unfortunate elevated encounter with a bear. Theres a rogue mother with cubs on the rampage in the central sierra nevadas. reports are she will strip you of more than just your smores. I wanna blow clean thru the beast if she even so much as false charges me. shes so agressive she has shrugged off salt rock.

    Enjoy banging on my factory parkerized 590 with a speedfeed stock and my parkerized heavy barrel ghostring 590A1 with a pistol grip speedfeed stock. Both have side saddles, 20" barrels,8 round tubes, and AR slings. I use the bayonet as a stand, very convenient when you're in a field, don't like to lay my guns on the ground. Lots of fun, tough and reliable, never get tired of them. Have a scoped 500 with smooth and rifled barrels with wood furniture for some 'class'. Maybe you should get more than 2 ramidus.......

    u feel the constant swaps would be more of a pain.. and cause extra maintainence... when its easier to just grab the other one... cuz all in all unless Im removing the scope its just a barrel/mag sawp.

    well, as the greenback stack up, so will my toys. I can envision 3 unique mockups... without the need to tote around another bag full of stuff... overall costs will be close unless I scour the planet for the best deals.. as I do..

    bought her online. Im going to pick her up at a local dealer w/ a FFL license tomarrow. might have to stop on my way home at some BLM land and make her spit. the chuckar are plump and slow this time a year.

    The swapping of the barrel takes no time. Chaning the mag tube from 5 to 8 and back though....

    I'd get 2 - a 500 and a 590....

    I am looking for link, it was a custom process using standard 20' and longr barrels.. something special about the angel of the inserts/tools used in making the rifling.. some kind of halfmoon/star shape that helped to "grab" the grooves of the slug moving thru it.. was a cool vid of its technology.. will find link again im sure...
