AK-47 RUSSIAN RED STYLE
I just bought a rifle that has never been fired. It came with two 30 round mags and one 10 round and 235 rounds of ammo. It was made in Romania. Has very pretty wood. Could anyone give me any info as to the value of it and if it was a good make of the AK-47? Thanks for any information that you can give me.

Quality of the Romanian AKs is all over the place and runs from excellent all the way down to pretty poor. Over the years there were several importers and a few were not too concerned about the quality of their product and brought in rifles with nasty tool marks, sights which are out of alignment and generally poor fit and finish.

It looks just like that except that the hand grip behind the trigger gaurd isn't wood. Other than that, I couldn't tell the difference. Thanks for the info. I paid $500.00 for it and I thought that was a good buy with the three mags and ammo. I was in Viet Nam and would like to hear the distinctive sound that it makes, but I'm going to leave it unfired. Let me re-state that, I would like to hear the sound in a peaceful setting instead of a hostile one. I thank you for the info that you provided. 0 -

If the gas block looks like that pictured AK as well as that safety lever and there are heavy grinds on the top by where the gas tube locks in and the dust cover has long cross directional going welts atop and the bolt carrier appears blackish and has a chrome lined barrel then ya you probably have a Romanian build AK. The pictured pistol grip is made of Bakelite not wood. Question answered? 0 -
If it's in fact a Romanian with CAI engraved in the receiver and no other marks on the receiver as to who other than Centrey may have made it along with not having mag well dimples (WASER10) and used. Realistically, I've seen adds for $350 dealer cost in the past for a like new build. Most AKs are made with recycled parts therefor hard to fair price especially when said to be used. As the current political presidential campaign seems not to have anything to do with the so called scare to ban assault weapons the prices have unrealistically gone up for any now. I've seen Romanian WASER10 AKs who seem so criticized for their lack of realabiliaty due to the modification needed to expand the mag well for a double column mag and possessing steel plates to compensate for the lack of receiver dimples needed for mag stability go for $1100 like new. Used in pawn shops the above rifle go used go for $650. 0
