Marlin 336SC 1960 Vintage

I have a 1960 Marlin 336SC with letters on the barrel next to the receiver: (RWO). I wondered if this was original or put on the gun later. On the opposite is: (JM) I know this is original, I believe standing for John Marlin. The (RWO) is about the same size as the (JM) and appears to be original but I am not sure??? Thanks!!!

  I took a quick look in Wm. S. Brophy, Marlin Firearms. Couldn't find anything there on RWO. The JM is the proof test mark. It could stand alone or be enclosed in an oval.
