Colt Woodsman Match Target

I recently acquired a 1st series Match Target w/"elephant ear" grips. Weird thing is, it doesn't have the bulls-eye target on left side of barrel. Has all the other markings and shows no evidence of being a replacement barrel. Has anyone ever heard of Colt making these without the target engraving?

  I recently acquired a 3rd series Colt Woodsman Match Target with a heavy 6" barrel. The serial number is 232xxx-5. According to the blue book the serial number should end with an S after the dash. I have the exact same model that ends with the 'S'. I know the 3rd series production ended in 1977. Can anybody clarify this for me. Pete

  I have NEVER seen or heard of one with factory barrel WITH-OUT the bulls-eye but never say never when it comes to COLT
