mossberg sn's
I have 2 mossbergs that I can't the serial numbers on.
The first one is a Mossberg 190 bolt action shotgun in 16 gauge with a C-lect choke.
The second one is a Mossberg 640a bolt action rifle in 22 mag.
I have looked all over these guns short of taking them out of the stocks for a serial number and I can't find one anywhere. Am I missing them, do they not have them or do I need to take the actions and barrels out of the stock to find them.
Any help is appreciated.

If they pre-date 1968 they may not have serial numbers. 0 -
Yeap no serials before 1968 unless you have a US issue military .22LR.
On the 190 there might me a year on the trigger gaurd. I know I took the one off the 46B and it said 1938, And the pat. no. Let me know what you find out.0 -
SNs were not required on small bore rifle and shotguns until the 1968 Gun Control Act. I have about a dozen Mossberg 22s and shotguns- only 1 has a serial number- because it was made for the US Military in 1943. 0
