model 94ae trapper
i have a 94ae trapper in 45 colt.the person i got it from said it is stainless steel but some people say it is plated.serial # says it was made in 1986. it has walnut stock and is unfired. i cant find any info on it.can anyone help me? thanks,tenderfoot bob

According to the Blue Book, the Trapper models that date to the mid 80's came with the standard blue finish. Nothing is ever written in stone though, as far as Winchesters are concerned. Not likely it's stainless, possibly the factory made a small run in electroless nickel for a distributor? 0 -

I am aware that some quantity of silver-colored 94s were made for an NRA banquet, a number of years ago. I have seen one of them on auction, but that was at least 5 years ago. That particular rifle was advertised as stainless steel, and was advertised as a "special edition". I have no idea what it actually was made of.
Does your rifle have any medalions on it, or any special numbers and/ or letters on it? Can you show us some pictures of your gun?

These little trappers have gotten pretty spendy in recent years, I would think a stainless version would bring a handsome price. 0 -
Ask Bert but don't call it a Winchester because it was made by U.S.R.A.CO. the true Winchesters were made before 82 or before,Some even say pre 64. 0 -
Try a magnet, if its stainless the magnet won't stick to it. If it is plated steel, I think it should stick to it. 0 -
The magnet trick only works sometimes. Plenty of "stainless" is ferrous. 0
