double barrel shotguns

I have a double barrel o/u shotgun, and i want information about this model.
Its a Fratelli Gamba 12G MONTREAL, CAM70,18.4, BELL CHOKE or TULA CHOKE i dont know for sure, barrels 64cm or 25'' from steel boehler.

I know that Fratelli Gamba means Gamba Brothers(sons of Giovanni Gamba shotgun maker) have stopped producing guns in 1989, and that their cousin Renato afterwards start producing Renato Gamba.

I heard that Fratelli Gamba made for Rottweil a skeet double barrel
shotgun for the Olympics 1972 in Montreal.

Anyway enough with history...
Is it a good, shotgun? Is it worth to have the specific shotgun?

They said to me that the value of this gun its from 2000 to 4000 EUROS
depends from guns condition. Is that true?

Its my first i write to this forum, i hope to learn more information
about my Gamba and its market value.

    i'm in the market for a sxs shotgun and i was wondering if i should get one with exposed hammers (old west style) or internal (modern).i kind of like the new style but was wondering about the exposed. are they better or worse than internal hammers ? keep in mind that the shotgun will be mainly a defensive gun. should i go with exposed or internal hammers? any help is appreciated.thanks

    China[xx(]. Find an american made S X S. The 311 you speak of is a good field gun. They called them coach guns because they cut the barrels off short to swing them around quickly while riding "shotgun" on the stage coach.

    Pass on China. the 311 is a decent choice. If you are buying a shotgun, go to a shop that understands and can fit a shotgun to you. Grabbing something off the shelf, particularly in a sxs or superposed is not nearly as good.

    I'd buy a used American double from Stevens or Ithaca before getting one of the junkers from China--heck I'd buy a Brazillian Stoeger Coach gun before a Chinese one. The Chinese use junky looking wood too.

    Another option for a decent/good SxS shotgun would be one of several Spanish made guns imported by a variety of importers. Guns from Ugartechea are generally good reliable shotguns albeit utility grade wood. I would pass on the low end Chinese shotguns.

    I have a Norinco 1897 with decent wood (looks like walnut) and it works well if you don't mind one with external hammers. The only thing I really hate is that stupid button safety that blocks the firing pins. It is almost as annoying as the safety on the Puma 1892's.

    How many safeties does a gun need anyway?

    If you can find one that says IZH 43 on it, that was imported by EAA Corp., you will have a winner. Look on the auction side. These were Russian made at the Bakail factory. Very over built, and heavy...but will last a bit.

    Pretty hard to beat a used Stevens 311 You can get a good one between $200 - $300 dollars and they seem to work forever. They made well over one and a half million of them so there's plenty out there.
