How to tell an Essex frame on 1911

How do you know if a Colt 1911 has an Essex frame instead of a Colt frame?

On the right side of the frame, above the trigger it will say "Essex arms, Hardwick, VT, and then the serial number.

You can also look up the list by serial numbers assigned to Colt.

Good to know, I had a saw a few pictures but hadn't actually saw where they said Essex on the frame. I'm going to look at a 1911 later and was wondering how to tell. Thank you.
