    I don't know specifically about the Contender? Taurus though has a internal flange on their Judge's, to prevent folks from chambering .454 Casul or .460 S & W.

    If none of our folks can help, call customer service at TC.

    I would not as the chamber pressure generated by the 460 S&W are WAYYYYY higher than the 45lc and the 410.

    I don't know if you can chamber it or not (you could simply try it yourself with a spent/dummy .460 case and see), but I definitely WOULD NOT try to actually fire one, if you could get it to fit.

    Max standard chamber pressure for the 460SW round is massive; it exceeds 55,000 PSI, making it comparable to rifle cartridges.

    Meanwhile, being an older black-powder cartridge, the .45LC is only rated safely to 14,000 PSI.

    If you hadn't noticed, the .460 handguns are built from giant blocky chunks of steel to contain this pressure.

    Trying to fire even one round through a gun designed for .45LC is likely to blow up the gun, destroying it, and cause serious injury to the shooter and/or others nearby.

    If you want to fire .460s, you'll have to get a .460 gun.

    NO, NO, and NO!!!!!!!!!

    The Contender is not built to take the backthrust that is generated by that hot of cartridge. It needs the Encore frame for a platform.
