need some info Colt 45

Hi,
A friend is selling me a COlt 1911 45 cal. I've not seen it yet.
S/n is 5683E7

  Not a serial number format I am familiar with.

  Colt has had some strange serial # in the last 20 years or so however I think they still Have the VP proof marks on all frames where the trigger guard meets the bottom of the slide on the left side holding the grip in your hand. Many clone frames on the market so if you see the pistol Take some pictures or write down ALL markings on both frame and slide.

  If you put a zero on the end,you would have the serial number format used for the 70 series colts.
