AK scope mount removal

any way to safely get this stupid thing off? i dont think a scope mount on an akm is very realistic and it looks dumb IMHO.

    The side rail on the AK has a taper from front to back. After loosening the screws, the mount can be slid backward (toward the stock) and removed.

    Good to hear.

    There are still Russian Scopes with integral mounts available for the side-rail mounting for your AK.

    I've got one on an AK and another on a Saiga, and optics are surprisingly good. Two are listed on the auction side:

    It was obviously easier a couple of years ago when Sportsman Guide was selling them for $ 125.00 each (if I remember correctly) for the non-illuminated versions, though I do not see any of them available now. Even at $ 200.00+, the two linked illuminated scopes are, IMO, well worth it if you intend to scope an AK.
